Your child has a social studies test on Friday, September 29 on Michigan’s vegetation and climate. They should have brought home a study guide and a set of flash cards to help them study. They will need to know the following:
Two Types of vegetation and an example of each:
Forests (National, State, and Commercial)
Orchards (Apple, Blueberry, Strawberries)
Climate: is the temperatures and precipitation our state has.
Examples:
- It is colder in the U.P.
- It rains and snows more on the west side of Michigan
- Michigan has four seasons: winter, spring, summer, fall
State Symbols: Be able to name three
- State Flower: Apple blossom
- State Bird: Robin
- State Stone: Petoskey Stone
- State Game Mammal: White Tailed Deer
