Room 207 -January 2018

• MATH– Beginning this week the kids will have a weekly homework assignment on Study Island. They can access this program through the CLEVER app. Once on Study Island they will have 12 questions that they will need to complete by Friday morning. They can do it over the course of the week or all at one time. Whatever works best for you and your family. If the kids have questions about the math you are more than welcome to assist them.

The kids are familiar with this program but just in case this is the procedure:

1. Login to Clever, 2.Click on StudyIsland 3. Click on My Classes4. Click on View Assignments 5. Click on Homework 1/15/18 and begin answering questions. If you don’t finish, just click save and exit. When you open it again it will take you directly to the next question.

• MATH– MobyMax is still required Monday-Thursday for five minutes each night.  I will also continue to have all kids practice fluency here at school. 🙂

Writing- Editing our  Person Expertise nonfiction writing, along with writing our final drafts.

Reading- Informational Reading will come to a close this week and we will begin Books in a Series book clubs. The class will be broken into 4 groups each reading from a different chapter book series. They will compare and contrast the two books and observe how the character’s change and grow between the books. 

Spelling- Week #17; This week’s study feature is Long U Vowel (u_e, oo, ew, and ue)

 Math- Unit #4- Multidigit Addition and Subtraction with focus on place value and rounding to start

Social Studies- Michigan History:  It is the 1600’s and the French are in Michigan trading furs with the Native Americans. This week we learn why French missionaries came to Michigan and then we will review for our “French in Michigan” test on Wednesday or Thursday. The test will be on the following Tuesday, January 23.
