Week of 10/9/17

A Glance at Our Week: 10/9/17- 10/13/17

Unit 1 Math Test: The kids took the unit one math test today and did amazing! Thank you for helping them learn their facts! Knowing the facts is essential to doing well in third grade math. Next to come will be the times six facts.

Spelling: Unit 8 will focus on the spelling pattern (ck) as in back and (ke) as in bake.

Reading: The kids are reading, reading, reading  and learning how to recognize character traits of the characters in their books.

Writing: We are finishing up our personal narrative unit this week. The kids will edit their stories and then write their final drafts. They are really working hard and have some pretty good stories to tell.

Social Studies: We are continuing to learn about Michigan’s geography. Thank you for helping your child study for the tests we have had. The information is new to the kids, so I like to give short tests more frequently because waiting until the end would just be too much for the kids to learn at once. The kids will be bringing home a chart with Michigan’s natural resources. There will be a quiz Thursday, where they will need to list three natural resources and an example of what we use that resource for.

Friday is an early release day. The kids will be released at 12:15
