Weekly Happenings 11-27-17

I hope you all enjoyed the Thanksgiving break, a time to be thankful for all of our blessings. Hang on tight! There are just four weeks until our holiday break, and they are filled with lots of learning and some special events too. Be sure to visit the blog regularly for updates concerning upcoming events. 

Reminders and Notices  

  •  Remember to have your child practice Moby Max Fact Fluency for 5 minutes at least 4 times per week. 
  • December 1, Early Release Friday dismissal @12:15
  • December 4, Penguin Patch Holiday Shoppe. This is an opportunity for students to purchase gifts for their family members. Our class will be shopping on Monday @ 10:00 -10:35.
  • December 14, Holiday Program at Fair Haven Church. Our performance will be at 7:30. More details to come.
  • Our classroom holiday party will be on Thursday, Dec. 21. Look for details and a sign up for donations and volunteers coming soon.

Writing- Our next unit of study will be informational writing. The kids will be writing about something they feel they are already an expert in. Please help your child brainstorm some ideas about things they know a lot about. For example: taking care of a pet, certain animals, a sport they play, a hobby they have. 

Reading- Informational Reading

Spelling– Week #13; This week’s study feature is Short E (e and ea) and Long E (ee and ea)

Math– Unit #3- Measurement, Time and Graphs

Social Studies- The Economy of Michigan: Look for a review guide to come home on Tuesday for the Economics Final test. Next up will be Michigan History. Attached is the study guide answer key if you would like to help your child get a head start.    Economics Study Guide
